Group Advisor Wensum Farmers

Location:                   Home Based.
Reporting to:             Wensum Farm Steering Group Directors
Salary details:          Dependant on experience, from £15 per hour.
Contract:                   Negotiable – Approx. 24 hours per week.

This is an exciting opportunity to join The Wensum Farmers Group; a highly successful, nationally recognised farmer-led collaboration working towards improving water quality and enhancing biodiversity in the beautiful river Wensum Catchment.

The Farm Advisor will run, motivate, promote and drive the Wensum Farmers Group.  Working with each farmer on a 1:1 basis whilst managing the group as a whole the Advisor will deliver a set of objectives and priorities agreed during the monthly group meetings.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

 

  • Working with the group farmers to develop their businesses.
  • Organising, promoting and delivering group events.
  • Working with the group to achieve set objectives.
  • Promoting the group through social media, managing the website and public speaking.
  • Driving agricultural change.
  • Carrying out water testing
  • Collating and presenting survey data including pond and bird surveys.
  • Engaging with relevant organisations such as DEFRA and Natural England.
  • Managing biodiversity project delivery.
  • Seeking external funding opportunities.
  • Over-seeing the Group Administrator.
  • Providing administrative support as required.

Person Specification:

  • Degree in Agriculture or similar – Preferred.
  • Experience of working with Farmers – Preferred.
  • Administrative Experience – Essential.
  • Motivated, organised, exceptional people skills – Essential.
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines – Essential.
  • Own car (mileage paid) – Essential.
